Disease Surveillance and Tracking
The Health Department Regional Epidemiologist handles disease surveillance and tracking. Physicians and hospitals report communicable diseases as required by state law to the Health Department. Qualified health department staff persons provide investigation of the cases and report the communicable diseases to the state office which reports to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
For information on communicable diseases – transmission, prevention, and treatment – for community groups, health professionals, schools or businesses, call the Regional Epidemiologist at 859-885-4149 ext. 1033.
